Day 133: How to Clean Microfiber Furniture

As the words, "...and don't spill that juice in the piano room!" came out of mouth, my son proceeded to knock his full cup off the computer table and all over the floor.  Oh, and it splashed all over my nice chair! I love my chair.  I bought it when I was pregnant with Charlie because I wanted a rocker that was big and squishy enough to sleep in at night.  I did NOT want to create another little monster that expected to sleep in bed with us. (My middle son nursed well, and I was too tired to get out of bed, so I brought him in bed with us to nurse at night.  However, he didn't sleep well unless he was in bed between us, and we had to really train him to sleep all night in his own bed when he got older.) So I figured if I had a chair that I loved, I would willingly get up out of bed and go into the baby's room to nurse and doze in my nice chair.  Now, it holds a place of honor in the "piano room" and my students' parents get to sit in it during lessons.  That is, until it was covered in sticky apple juice.

Microfiber cannot be cleaned with water, as that leaves marks everywhere.  I HATED our microfiber couch.  It was always dirty looking, and every single drip from a bottle or sippy cup left permanent marks. Using rubbing alcohol, it is possible to get them clean, though.  Well, cleaner.  And next time, opt for the traditional cloth couch. :)

This blog has a great step by step tutorial with pictures, so I'll direct you there.  I used alcohol before on my couch, and again on my chair with decent results.  Good luck!
