Day 41: My Weight Loss Rewards System

A few days ago (day 34) I posted about the weight loss motivation "visual."  Today, I finally got around to getting my rewards system in place.  It took a few days because I needed Popsicle sticks and my boys have been working hard to take care of that for me! I had enough to put together something to start with, at least.  


I took the Popsicle sticks and on one end wrote the number of pounds lost (2, 5 or 10) and on the other end I wrote the reward.  The fun part about this is that you can tailor it to your own likes and add your own value system.  I'll probably add 20 pounds as well and give myself a big reward for that one! A few examples of my mostly non-food rewards are:

  • Dollar Store purchase
  • McDonald's diet Coke
  • Hot bath
  • Brow wax
  • Manicure
  • Hobby Lobby purchase
  • Thirty minutes to read a book
  • New magazine subscription
  • New outfit, dress, shirt, etc
  • Pedicure
  • Lunch date
  • New kitchen gadget
  • New iTunes download
  • New App for my phone
As you can see, the possibilities are endless.  You have to be creative to keep the rewards inexpensive, but I try to add value as the weight loss goes higher.  If you lose 20 pounds, you deserve a new dress!  I still have my eye on the prize: wearing my wedding dress again in three years.  But as they say, baby steps! So why not reward yourself for making it to the next one?  Good Luck!
