Happy "it's almost Thanksgiving" Sunday to you! We are having a Praise and Pie night at church tonight, and I have a delicious looking Snickers Pie setting in the fridge as we speak. (Well, as I type.) But that will be tomorrow's post. Today is once again Sunday, when I try to focus on something that will help strengthen marriage.
This week I came across a pin with such a simple idea that I really did say, "Why didn't I think of that?"
Of course, the concept of praying for your husband isn't anything new, but this post outlines a simple plan that will keep your husband at the forfront of your heart and mind as he goes through his workday. I often call or text my husband throughout the day, which I think is healthy for a marriage, but this takes it a step further. At the top of each hour, spend 2 minutes in prayer for a specific area of his life and walk. I started this a couple days ago, and I admit, I have a hard time remembering the topic for the hour, or I miss the top of each hour. So I'm going to print the list out and keep it somewhere central, like the kitchen, where I'll be reminded throughout the day. I may also set a reminder on my phone- that way it will repeat daily and I won't lose track of time. Keeping an attitude of prayer throughout the day will benefit you! You can't have negative thoughts about someone when you are praying for God to bless them! And you get the added blessing of being in communion with God regularly as the day goes by. Try this, and watch for the signs that God is blessing your husband. And you!
8 am (Pray for his walk with the Lord)
9 am (Pray for his purity)
10 am (Pray for his friendships)
11 am (Pray for his witness)
12 am (Pray for his work to be honorable)
1 pm (Pray for him as a father)
2 pm (Pray for his safety)
3 pm (Pray for God to bless him)
4 pm (Pray for God's strength in his life)
5 pm (Pray for his visions and dreams)
What a great idea. I can set my cell phone alarm clock for each hour to remind me to do this. Your husband is very blessed to have such a praying wife. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I admit I'm not consistent with this little plan (an hour seems to fly by when you're busy at home!) but it has made me much more aware of his need for prayer when he's away from the safe haven of our home!
