Day 128: Nail Polish Quick-Dry: Ice Water vs Cooking Spray

I've seen several pins claiming to quick dry or set nail polish, but the most common ones I've seen are using cooking spray, like Pam, or immersing your hands in ice cold water.  So today I decided to try both to see if either of them really worked and which one was better.  I chose a paint color that wasn't old and goopy already, and quickly painted both hands with just a light coat.  I let them air dry for about 30 seconds and then painted a quick second coat.  Then on my left hand, I sprayed the cooking spray (I had Crisco), and my right hand I immersed in freezing water.  It actually was quite uncomfortable after 30 seconds! I kept my hand in the ice water for one minute.  Then I touched the nails on each hand.  The ice water hand definitely did not set well.  It smudged immediately.  You could tell that the paint had hardened somewhat, but not enough.  Maybe if I could have toughed it out another minute it would have been better.  I will say, however, that the spray side was smooth and had not smudging when I touched it! So why torture yourself with cold water when a quick spray will do the same thing?  And not only that, it leaves your cuticles nice and soft from the oil :) I just left the oil on my hands for one minute and then gently washed them with soap and water.  Quick, easy and cheap! I may have to actually keep my nails painted now!
