Everyone loves chocolate and strawberries together, and this is by far the easiest way to make and eat them, I think. I made these for a class activity and they were a big hit. Easy to make, easy to eat, and easy to transport to a picnic, thanks to this blogger's great idea of putting them in an egg carton! I'm using her picture, too, because she obviously uses a better camera than an iPhone and they pretty much look exactly the same, no matter who makes them.
I cut off the tops of the berries with a paring knife and scooped out the insides without taking away too much strawberry goodness. Next, I melted Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips in a double boiler (she suggests a microwave, but chocolate can be so temperamental, and I like to keep the consistency even while I'm working). Then I just spooned the chocolate into each berry with a baby spoon and stuck the strawberry in the egg carton. This keeps the berries upright while the chocolate hardens. You can take them out for better presentation later, but I left mine in the carton because I was taking them to a picnic and didn't want dishes to deal with later. Just pop into the fridge for a few minutes and you have a delicious strawberry with a "nugget" of chocolate goodness inside! Enjoy!
