Angel hair pasta, asparagus, mushroom and Swiss cheese. Yum, right? WRONG!
I'm so disappointed! This was one of those recipes that had all the right ingredients but still didn't taste good! I really don't know why this didn't work, but it didn't. It comes from Taste of Home, which is a personal favorite of mine for great, easy recipes. Well, I say I don't know why it didn't work, but I have a few opinions about that.
I cooked up some chicken breast seasoned with salt, pepper and oregano to add some heft to the dish and make it dinner appropriate. I also added several spices to the dish because the recipe seemed a bit bland on paper. But when it was all said and done, it was still quite flavorless. I'm hoping that by the time Jared comes home for dinner, some of the flavors will have developed and he won't have to choke it down like I did!
I was skeptical about a pasta sauce that was almost completely made from milk. And for good reason. It gets thickened with flour, and you do add the cheese to it later, but it ended up bland and grainy. I was so disenamored with the dish, I forgot to take my own photo before I packed it away in the refrigerator. I just posted the one from the original link. Maybe YOU can do something with it!
***Update***
I had some for lunch the next day, (I can't stand to waste food when things are so tight) and it did taste a bit better. I added an ounce of cream cheese to the bowl as I was reheating it, and that made a huge difference in the sauce. More salt and pepper didn't hurt, either. Someday I'll try again and just come up with my own recipe.
