Day 34: Visual Motivation

Another busy day has come and almost gone- and I almost forgot to post! The days seem to do that.  They come and go so quickly, and those promises you make to yourself at night before you go to sleep always seem to get neglected one more day.  You know the ones I mean: Tomorrow I will exercise.  Tomorrow I will eat better.  Tomorrow I will get that chore done.  Tomorrow I will...and the ideas that are so great when I'm going to sleep seem so out of reach when the reality of the next day arrives.  I saw this idea on Pinterest quite a while ago, and I think it's time to break it out.  I had been doing well with my weight loss goals, but I seem to have plateaued and lost some of my motivation.  This visual on my dresser should be a good, quiet reminder to make better choices one day at a time. Mine will be buttons in a baby jar, because that's what I have in the house.  I'm also going to create a "rewards" jar because I require extra motivation along the way.  My long term goal is to wear my wedding dress again when we renew our vows for our 15th anniversary.  But that's a long time from now, and I need little encouragements along the way.  So I'm choosing inexpensive, non-food rewards and putting them on slips of paper in a jar.  When I reach a goal (like 5 pounds, 10 pounds, one month of exercise every day, etc.) I'll draw from the jar and reward myself.  It may be a pedicure, a trip alone to Hobby Lobby to window shop and dream, a bath and a good book, a hair cut, or a new dress.  So I'd better get on it!  Tomorrow.
