So, anyone want to hazard a guess as to why I'm posting about Sharpie removal today? Boys. *Sigh* My kids were happily playing outside in the back yard while I taught piano lessons yesterday. I could hear the "evil chuckle" (you know the one I mean?) coming from the back, but there was nothing I could do to stop it at the time, so I ignored it. Well, this morning I went outside and saw red marker all over the patio, the stucco walls and even the cat! I bet that's what they were laughing about :)

Before (I should have chosen a spot that was all shade or all sun) |

See the red mark on the kitty's back leg? |

After (Better, but not gone yet) |
So, Google to the rescue! Actually, there were several suggestions and eHow covers marker removal from all sorts of things. But I didn't really have most of the supplies needed. So I just tried nail polish remover and a scrub brush. I could tell that the nail polish remover would work, as it started to lift the color immediately, but after using almost half my little bottle, I stopped. It's going to take a much stronger concentrate to get it removed completely. I'll be raiding dad's garage for paint thinner as soon as I can. Until then, the walls, ground and the cat will have to just be Burkholder originals.
