Day 198: Eggnog Punch

Now, I know not everyone is a fan of eggnog.  There seems to be two camps in the eggnog kingdom.  The "I love this stuff and I can't wait until Fall rolls around so I can buy it by the gallon" side and the "Gross." side.  My husband is the former, and I am the latter.  But I like to try new things, and I've had sips of his eggnog milkshake a time or two before, so I thought this punch recipe sounded pretty tasty.  And quite festive! We had some friends over for a little Christmas party of sorts, and I made a batch for the evening.  It was super easy- comes together in less than 5 minutes and it didn't taste overwhelmingly "eggnog-y".  Ha ha.  Spell check is having a fit right now.  Of course, my red plastic cup with sharpie name on the side didn't look as pretty as these, and I skipped the candy cane and nutmeg sprinkles, but overall, it was a success :)

Eggnog Punch--THIS is the recipe I've been looking all over for! I made this for our first Christmas together and I couldn't remember what was in it or where it came from. We used non-alcoholic Southern Comfort Vanilla Spice eggnog, french vanilla ice cream, and cream soda. It was won.der.ful. Make this!! You'll LOVE it!

Place ice cream in an extra-large punch bowl. Add half the eggnog. Stir and mash mixture using a potato masher until ice cream is melted and mixture is well combined. Stir in remaining eggnog. Slowly pour in cream soda, stirring to combine. To each glass add a peppermint stick, cinnamon stick, or candy cane. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon (about 1/8 teaspoon per serving). Makes about 24 (6-ounce) servings.
