You know how you already hear/read that one of the best ways to build your marriage is to do something that your husband loves to do? You know, show interest in things that he's involved in? Well, today is your chance. Most men, even if they are only nominally interested in football will be watching the Super Bowl today. There's even added interest because the coaches of the opposing teams are brothers. This is a family war for them. Can you imagine what it will be like at Thanksgiving this year? Ha ha. As a parent, which son do you root for? It's a very interesting dynamic, even if you hate football.
So today, because I love my husband, I will be sitting on the couch at 3:30 cheering on the SF 49ers and hoping with all my might that they win. (To be honest, I'd be happy with a highlight reel and a win-60 minutes, tops. But I guess that's where the love part of the equation come into play.) I never had a favorite football team, so when we started dating I adopted his. It's been a rough 15+ years as a fan, but this year we are actually excited about the Super Bowl! Thanks to the magic of DVR, when we leave for church tonight we'll hit the pause button, desperately try to avoid all social media, radio, TV and smart phones until we come home to finish watching and hopefully witness a win!
So even if it's not your favorite thing to do, plop down on the couch with your man and spend the afternoon together. Hey, at least the commercials are usually entertaining!
