Day 243: Save $$$ and Filler in Candle Globes

Remember to use a toilet paper roll as a filler- makes ornaments go further in filling vases! smart!! -- Could be cute wrapped in wrapping paper and filled with clear/glitter balls, too.
Back in the Fall, I bought a clear glass globe at a garage sale for $1. I have certainly enjoyed my money's worth from that thing! I used it on our mantel for Fall and Christmas decorations.  I filled it with leaves and twigs and "fallish" stuff and then I filled it with pine and winter berries and "Christmassy" stuff.  When it was time to put away the seasonal decor, I couldn't bring myself to pack it away.  I needed color on my mantel anyway, so I went looking for purple "filler" at Hobby Lobby.  The only thing I could find in the right color was a bag of potpourri mix.  And, of course, there was only one bag left.  I knew it wouldn't be enough, but then I remembered an idea I saw on Pinterest about using a toilet paper roll or paper towel roll to help fill space.  Voila! Problem solved.  BUT, what I like even better is this idea for using a can.  It fills even more space and it eliminates the problem of a wobbly candle.  It also brings the candle up to the top of the globe very nicely.  Now as soon as I find a candle to go in mine, I'll be trying this new little trick!

place a can under candle before filler - you'll use less filler AND the candle will sit straight!!
