There are several compilations like this one floating around Pinterest, but I really liked the majority of the titles mentioned in this post. My kids are still young, so some of the nuances of the "bigger" books are lost on them, but no matter what the age, kids love to listen to adults read to them. Even Charlie goes running into the boys' room when he hears Daddy start the book of the evening. Usually the boys choose one from our book shelves, or we have a slew of library books to choose. Often though, we pick up a "chapter book" that takes several nights to finish. Sometimes these are just compilation books of shorter stories, like a collection of Curious George stories. One of my husband's favorites to read is poetry by Shel Silverstein. I know most of the humor is lost on the boys, but poetry is meant to be read out loud, and the funny pictures are enough to keep the kids engaged.
As a kid, I LOVED The Borrowers and a Wrinkle in Time. Don't let the young years be wasted waiting on the kids to be able to read these gems themselves! Hit up the library, your kindle or iTunes account and discover a new favorite together!
